Motivation: In March and April 2020, while under the Federal and California STAY HOME ORDERS, I invented the Forearm Door Open™ to help lessen and mitigate the transmission of
COVID-19. The CDC issued guidance indicating that doorknobs (handles) facilitate transmission of the CORONAVIRUS, from hand to face or hand to hand. To mitigate the transmissions and
frequency and severity of transmissions, I set out to lessen the incidents of hand and finger
transmissions from opening doors. To enter almost all small commercial buildings, we must place our hand or fingers on the doorknobs. This enhances the risks of transmissions. The doorknob is a risk that must be mitigated.
